Raised Community Awareness of Municipal Services

Output 5 – raised community awareness of municipal services

The project works closely with our partners to raise community awareness of municipal service issues such as planning and development consent requirements, household responsibilities for managing solid waste (reduce, recycle, re-use), and public health benefits of safe waste handling and disposal. The project has improved customer complaints mechanisms in TWB and WAL, as raising customer service standards is integral to their willingness to pay for services. The community awareness programs also highlight the responsibilities of the Nukuʻalofa community as beneficiaries of urban services, such as the need to pay for services. Women’s groups and community associations are consulted and encouraged to participate in urban planning and design issues.
